Genealogy - World War I

Over 122,000 men and women from Wisconsin served in World War I. While most National Guardsmen became part of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Division, Wisconsin men served in all branches of service throughout the world. In addition, hundreds of Wisconsin women went overseas with the Army Nurse Corps. Wisconsin Veterans Museum is nearing the completion of an online database that will allow users to search Wisconsin residents in World War I to find ancestors or veterans from specific communities.

Until the database is posted, please contact the reference archivist with any questions about Wisconsin’s contributions to World War I.
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum is an educational activity of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
